We work directly with small farms in Ethiopia, Colombia, and Guatemala — paying above fair-trade prices and visiting growers annually. Every bag has a face behind it.
Roast
Our in-house roaster coaxes out sweetness and clarity. We roast in small batches, twice a week, so what lands in your cup was roasted days ago — not months.
Brew
Dialed-in daily. Our baristas calibrate grind and extraction every morning. Whether it's a shot or a slow pour, precision and care go into every drink.

About Groundwork
Groundwork Coffee Co. was founded in 2019 by two friends who left careers in tech to do something that made people happy in a real, daily way. We opened our first location in Portland's Woodstock neighborhood with twelve seats, a secondhand espresso machine, and more ambition than capital.
Our sourcing philosophy is straightforward: know who grew it, know how they're treated, pay a fair price, and never compromise on quality. We visit our farm partners every year — not because it looks good on a menu card, but because the relationships make the coffee better.
We're not trying to be the biggest. We're trying to be your favorite. The one you come back to on a slow Tuesday, when the rain is doing that Pacific Northwest thing and you just need something warm and right.
